Since 1995 GAYLA BECHTOL ARCHITECT has been sensitively responding to context – the context of her client’s needs and of the site, from macro to micro scale. The projects shown here respond to the social, economic and environmental issues. In most cases the projects reuse an existing structure strategically and practically adding the exact right thing to make that space work, functionally and aesthetically. The projects show holistic design, recognizing that not one issue dominates the problem solved. The siting of each of these projects is critical to the energy use. Gayla Bechtol is dedicated to holistic design and building.
