The Paseo del Sur Treehouse calm presence and simple massing captures the breezes coming up the arroyo providing a contemplative retreat for writing and paper-making. This structure achieved a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) index rating of 64. The strategies we used were super-insulating the walls and roof and pouring a second story slab for temperature control. We also used Vaastu a traditional Hindu system of architecture to integrate the architecture with the natural setting and the alignment of the house.  The two-story writing and paper-making studio is connected with a bridge to the Main House and a portal using exposed traditional Spanish Pueblo style wood elements.
