1994 Historic Northern New Mexico Addition
The challenge was to add a master bedroom and storeroom to a double adobe vernacular Northern New Mexico house in a village in New Mexico. Without compromising the character of the house or imposing an inappropriate mass in the land we added a new voice to the valley. We chose to use traditional proportions, slightly, over scale and designed a “knuckle” that allowed the massing shift which also takes advantage of the solar aspect of the site. The front and sides were untouched.
